Why does my vacuum need more than one filter?
Many upright and canister vacuums use a pre-motor filter (foam and/or felt, usually washable) to protect the motor from dust, plus a separate post-motor or HEPA filter that catches fine particles before exhaust air leaves the machine. Both need to be replaced or cleaned on their own schedule.
Are vacuum filters independently certified like HEPA air purifier or NSF water filters?
